This release updates the language packs for English and Spanish. It also adds support for SubRip Titles (SRT) as an output format. How to generate this format is shown in the Speech API documentation.
It is recommended that customers on previous releases upgrade to this version.
The legacy V1 API that the Batch Virtual Appliance currently supports will be discontinued in the near future. We will align the product with the same V2 API used by the Speechmatics SaaS: https://asr.api.speechmatics.com/v2/docs. We recommend that customers familiarise themselves with the configuration object used to specify job configurations, and also prepare to integrate to the V2 API. The configuration object in V2 is a superset of the configuration object in V1, so you can start to adopt it now to minimise required integration changes.
The following issues are addressed since the previous release:
|Issue ID||Summary||Resolution Description|
|REQ-13430||Virtual Appliance conflict of internal (docker) and customer subnets||A smaller subnet is now used to reduce the likelihood of conflicts.|
|REQ-13704||The virtual appliance disk space could become full||This is resolved by the latest release.|
|REQ-14069||Batch Appliance would in some circumstances send callbacks about jobs that have been since deleted||We have improved the robustness of our queuing system to resolve this|
|REQ-14062||There have been some instances of a Spanish file only being partially transcribed||The latest rebuild of Spanish (es) resolves this issue.|
|REQ-14134||Retrying a failed job on the batch appliance could generate an error||This has now been resolved by the latest release|
The following are known issues in this release:
|Issue ID||Summary||Detailed Description and Possible Workarounds|
|REQ-1409||Proteus HCL with ||A custom dictionary list that contains the word '|
|REQ-7549||Memory leak affecting gRPC||There is a small memory leak in the gRPC Python server (https://github.com/grpc/grpc/issues/5913).|
|REQ-10160||Advanced punctuation for Spanish (es) does not contain inverted marks.||Inverted marks [ ¿ ¡ ] are not currently available for Spanish advanced punctuation.|
|REQ-10627||Double full stops when acronym is at the end of the sentence||If there is an acronym at the end of the sentence, then a double full stop will be output, for example: "team G.B.."|
|REQ-11135||3.2.0 introduced unwanted hesitations in transcripts for English (en).||Due to changes in the way that training data is now ingested to improve the accuracy of spontaneous speech for English (en) there is a greater likelihood that hesitations will be included in the output transcrtips. We plan to support a hesitation filtering capability in a future release for customers that do not want to see hesitations on transcripts.|
|REQ-14402||When running very large numbers of small jobs (<10 seconds) offline, this may cause some of the jobs to be rejected||If you encounter this issue, please ensure licensing is in offline mode when running the appliance offline|
Within the appliances themselves the documentation found at the
/help endpoint states that the V1 API will be discontinued in the October 2020 release and will no longer be accessible. This is no longer true, and must be ignored.
